The Stats - Ricky Burns Vs Terence Crawford

Ricky Burns (36(11)-2(0)-1) - Height 5'10'' - Reach 70'' - 30 years old
Terence Crawford (22(16)-0(0)-0) - Height 5'8'' - Reach 73 - 26 years old

Scottish lightweight world champ Ricky Burns will put his title on the line again against American Terence Crawford on March 1 at the Scottish Exhibition Centre, Glasgow.

Eight of Burns' last nine fights have been world title contests, with the one remaining fight being a bout for an interim strap coming after Burns moved up from super featherweight to lightweight.

Burns has never lost a world title fight but he drew in his last bout, against Raymundo Beltran, a fight most pundits thought he had lost. Burns suffered a broken jaw early in that contest but, arguably, his most impressive victory was his first world title win, against Roman Martinez back in 2010.

Crawford is inexperienced compared to Burns but he is touted as a future world champion by those who know him.  In 22 contests as a pro Crawford has barely lost a round but this is a step up in opposition. The Nebraskan had an impressive amateur career however, beating Danny Garcia and Diego Magdaleno.

In Burns' world title fights he has won four by ko, much higher than his career average, partly due to a more aggressive approach and moving up in weight.  Crawford has shown power in his career but Burns is tough, the Scot is more likely to struggle with the American's superior reach, as he did against Jose Gonzalez.
